More than 36,000 residents across 2,603 homes were interviewed, with 95% of respondents answering positively to questions about their care environment.

Residents responded more positively to questions in 2024, with 88% of residents saying they would recommend their aged care home to someone.

The most improved area was the extent to which residents feel they can make their own choices:

  • 91% per cent said they have a say in their daily activities – up 10% from 2022.
  • 88% per cent said they are encouraged to do things for themselves – up 7% from 2022.

The findings help providers understand what older people like about their home and what could improve.

The survey also makes up a third of an aged care home’s Overall Star Rating. Star Ratings provides older people, their families and carers with transparency about the quality of aged care homes.
