National Lung Cancer Screening Program Expert Advisory Committee

The National Lung Cancer Screening Program Expert Advisory Committee provides clinical advice on the quality and safety of the National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP).

Role

The NLCSP Expert Advisory Committee is one of 2 groups that gives us advice on the NLCSP.

The committee is a multidisciplinary group that provides expert advice to promote best-practice lung cancer screening. The committee’s role is to provide advice and support for:

  • developing and finalising various program products and operations, including the NLCSP Program Guidelines
  • research related to prevention and screening of lung cancer, including optimal patient care and equitable access within the health system
  • disseminating education and resources that support clinical implementation.

Members

We appoint committee members either as representatives of their organisation or as individuals. Members consult and collaborate with their organisation or other experts in their field. Members will also help to distribute education and information resources to their sector.

Meetings

The committee meets approximately every 3 months. It considers items in between these meetings (out of session) if required.

Related groups

The NLCSP Advisory Group also advises us regarding the program. The advisory group gives program and policy advice and focuses on how the NLCSP will be delivered in each jurisdiction.
