On 1 July 2023, the Prostheses List Advisory Committee (PLAC) was replaced by the Medical Devices and Human Tissue Advisory Committee (MDHTAC). Its associated sub-committees (Clinical Advisory Group and Panel of Clinical Experts) were replaced by the Expert Clinical Advisory Groups (ECAGs).
Role
The MDHTAC makes recommendations to the department and Minister for Health and Aged Care and on issues relating to medical devices and human tissue products on the Prescribed List of Medical Devices and Human Tissue Products.
The MDHTAC provides recommendations and advice on:
- the clinical effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of products
- other matters related to the Prescribed List.
