We use HTA Engage to keep consumers updated on activities related to health technology assessment (HTA) in Australia. This includes:
- Consultation opportunities and updates relating to PBAC/MSAC/Other
- Information about HTA policy and reform
- Other HTA-related information
- Webinar and event invites
We publish communications as needed, typically not more than once per month.

When this privacy notice applies
This privacy notice applies to HTA Engage.
This notice explains how we (the Australian Department of Health, Disability and Ageing) manage personal or professional information consistent with our obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
Information we collect
We collect information about you, including your:
- name
- email address
- organisation (if applicable)
- other optional information, which may include:
- post code
- community, cultural or population groups you identify with
- accessibility requirements
- areas of interest related to HTA
- areas of interest related to health conditions
Why we collect this information
We use this information to add you to our HTA Engage subscriber list and send you HTA Engage newsletter. If you do not provide your email address, we cannot send you these updates.
We may also use your information to:
- measure newsletter and email performance
- better understand your interests and communication preferences
- target information to you (for instance, by community, cultural or population group or area of interest).
Providing optional information is voluntary and choosing not to provide this information will not affect your ability to receive HTA Engage.
How we collect this information
We collect personal information from you via Swift Digital when you complete the online subscription form.
Who do we disclose your personal information to
We use Swift Digital, an Australian email marketing service, to manage our mailing lists. When you subscribe to our mailing list/s, you consent to Swift Digital collecting your email address on our behalf. Swift Digital also receives information from cookies about your use of the website (including your IP address). We recommend that you read Swift Digital’s Privacy and Spam Policy.
We may also disclose your personal information to anyone the law requires or authorises us to share your personal information with.
Consent
By providing your sensitive information to us, you consent to us collecting other information about you for the purposes indicated above, which may include:
- post code
- community, cultural or population groups you identify with
- accessibility requirements
- areas of interest related to HTA
- areas of interest related to health conditions
How we store your information
Swift Digital acts as a custodian of your data on behalf of us. Swift Digital stores your data in data centres located within Australia. By subscribing to HTA Engage:
- you consent to Swift Digital collecting, using, disclosing, and storing your personal information as set out in their privacy policy
