Fact sheet
The ‘menopause transition’ includes perimenopause and menopause. During the menopause transition the levels of oestrogen and progesterone, hormones produced by the ovaries, change. This causes menopause-related symptoms. People might also describe these symptoms as ‘perimenopause symptoms’.
