National Suicide and Self-Harm Monitoring System

The National Suicide and Self-Harm Monitoring System collects information on suicide, intentional self-harm and suicidal behaviour in Australia. It helps us develop tailored services, programs and policies to better support people and prevent suicide and self-harm.

National Suicide Prevention Trial

The National Suicide Prevention Trial took place in 12 Australian regions from 2016-17 to 2020-21. We funded Primary Health Networks (PHNs) in those regions to develop and implement a systems-based approach to suicide prevention at a local level for at-risk populations.

Prevention Hub

Prevention Hub is a collaboration of the Black Dog Institute and Everymind to deliver a research program that targets people at greater risk of mental health conditions and suicide.

Rural Health Outreach Fund

The Rural Health Outreach Fund (RHOF) supports outreach activities that improve access to medical specialists, GPs and allied health providers in rural and remote areas of Australia.

Suicide Call Back Service

The Suicide Call Back Service is a 24-hour nationwide service that provides free telephone, video and online counselling for anyone who is affected by suicide.

Targeted Regional Initiatives for Suicide Prevention

The Targeted Regional Initiatives for Suicide Prevention program funds regional initiatives for suicide prevention in every Primary Health Network (PHN). This funding has provided PHNs with resources to address gaps in their local suicide prevention systems.

The National Workforce Centre for Child Mental Health

The National Workforce Centre for Child Mental Health, delivered by Emerging Minds, assists professionals and organisations who work with children and their parents or families to have the skills to identify, assess and support children at risk of mental health conditions.
