My name's Ali, I'm studying a Bachelor of Nursing at the University of South Australia.

My favourite thing about the placement at Pop-Up Health has been going from feeling really nervous about administering medications, having never done it before, to just building my confidence and feeling like now I know what I'm doing, and I could apply clinical reasoning to practical skills.

I've learned IV medication delivery and the rationale behind why we do things the way we do them. I've learned during my placement here is, a lot more about wound classification and care.

The nurse buddies have been great. One thing about doing a community placement is that you're on the road a lot. And having the opportunity to pick the brains of the nurses, while you're on the road, really is a bonus.

After this placement, I would definitely consider a career in community nursing. I've really enjoyed building rapport with clients and seeing them in their own home and, I think people are more natural and, probably get better quicker when they're at home.
