The Statement of Expectations also lays out the Commission’s responsibilities to ensure the interests of older people are at the heart of all monitoring and compliance activities. This includes how providers are supported to meet the strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards.

The Commission has published a Statement of Intent in response.

The Statement of Expectations was finalised when the new Aged Care Act was expected to commence from 1 July 2025. The commencement of the new Act has been deferred to 1 November 2025.
