Description:

Childhood Heart Disease (CHD) affects about 65,000 Australians, their family members and carers. It is one of the leading causes of infant death. Survivors require complex, specialised care throughout their lifetime.

The National Strategic Action Plan for Childhood Heart Disease aims to make CHD care:

  • lifelong
  • holistic
  • person-centred
  • family-centred

The plan identifies 3 priority areas:

  1. management, care and support
  2. supportive communities
  3. research

It provides further focus areas and actions to achieve its goals.
