This review report describes the findings of the Aged Care Legislated Review. The independent review looked into the effectiveness of the Living Longer Living Better reforms that began in 2012.

The review found that:

  • the reforms successfully made the aged care system more consumer driven and sustainable
  • more reforms are needed 

The review report includes 38 recommendations, an overview of aged care and chapters on:

  • moving toward a system driven by consumer demand
  • demand and supply
  • means testing in home and residential care
  • accommodation payments in residential care
  • protecting lump sum accommodation payments
  • access to services
  • equity of access
  • the aged care workforce
