Description:

This simulation scenario focuses on effective communication between health professionals, people with intellectual disability, and their supporters. Set in a pharmacy, it provides briefs for students to role-play a customer with intellectual disability, their support worker, and the pharmacist in the scenario. Educators are encouraged to employ an actor with intellectual disability to take part in the simulation where possible.

Two versions are provided so students can practice different communication skills.

This is part of a suite of resources intended for use in an educational context to support the Intellectual Disability Health Capability Framework (the Framework). The full list of resources is available at: Intellectual Disability Health Capability Framework and associated resources.
