The Act and the Aged Care Rules 2025 (the Rules) set out the types of information the System Governor and Commissioner must and can publish. Sharing information with the public is an important part of building a transparent and accessible aged care system.
Information that must be shared
The System Governor must publish certain general information about funded aged care services under the Act. The Rules set out exactly what information they must publish. This includes pricing and other financial information, as well as specific information about residential care homes.
Information that can be shared
The System Governor and the Commissioner may also publish other information about providers. For example, information about:
- what kind of services they deliver
- how many people use their services
- the results of audits.
The System Governor and Commissioner can only publish personal information that’s about a responsible person of a registered provider. This supports accountability and transparency in the aged care system while appropriately protecting privacy.
