Description:

The Department of Health and Aged Care (the Department) engaged Healthcare Management Advisors (HMA) to evaluate the effectiveness of the Infection Prevention and Control Lead (IPC Lead) role in residential aged care.

The IPC Lead role is a key component of the Australian Government’s reform initiatives following the 2020 Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety’s special report on COVID-19 and aged care. By December 1, 2020, all residential aged care homes were required to appoint an IPC Lead, a requirement that remains in ongoing.
