Description:

The Data Strategy provides the overarching strategic direction to guide departmental data and analytics activities to ensure that resources and efforts are allocated efficiently to activities that will support evidence-based policy, programs and service delivery.

It is aligned with other work happening across the Australian Government and the states and territories. It provides us with the direction and a path forward to help us tackle major challenges from strengthening Medicare through to understanding the key issues around aged care, mental health, primary care, health workforce planning, and the ongoing COVID-19 response.

The Data Strategy reflects the need to maintain public trust by demonstrating how we protect the privacy and confidentiality of individuals, uphold commercial-in-confidence obligations, and how data is being used in the public interest.
