The Government will provide a one-off, across the board increase to the general residential aged care subsidy between March 2019 and June 2019. This is a an up-front payment to support all residential care providers in the care of their residents over the next 18 months, while the Government considers longer term funding reform options and the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety progresses. It will be paid as a 9.5 per cent increase in the subsidy for residents in mainstream residential aged care until 30 June 2019.

This boost provides additional support to the sector to deliver on its quality care obligations.
