The Government will provide $56 million for research that will give new hope and support to the more than 120,000 Australian children and adults living with type 1 diabetes. Funding of $6 million over four years from 2019–20 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation will assist with the strategic vision and national leadership of the type 1 Diabetes Clinical Research Network, which is an initiative to accelerate clinical research to increase access to new treatments for people living with type 1 diabetes.

Funding of $25 million over five years from 2019–20 for the Foundation will further advance the network.
