BreastScreen Australia – Policy on screening versus diagnostic mammography

The BreastScreen Australia Program is a population-based screening program designed to detect breast cancer early. Early detection increases the chances of successful treatment. Women who already have symptoms that need investigating should have a diagnostic mammogram and clinical assessment. This is not part of our screening program.
