The Australian Medical Research Advisory Board developed by these priorities after consulting with stakeholders in September 2024. They include:

  • consumer-driven research
  • research infrastructure and capability
  • translation and commercialisation
  • effective and high value care
  • preventive and public health research
  • primary care research
  • health and medical researcher capacity and capability
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing
  • priority populations
  • global health and health security
  • health impacts from environmental factors
  • artificial intelligence and digital health.

The Australian Government considers these priorities when making decisions about funding from the MRFF.
