These two key publications have been agreed to by all states and territories to provide nationally consistent guidance to organisations and people who conduct clinical trials.

Collection description

The National Standard Operating Procedures for Clinical Trials in Australia (National SOPs) describe the minimum standards all public and private health service organisations and their employees must follow when conducting clinical trials.

The National Principles for Teletrials in Australia addresses principles that relate to and are particular to running clinical trials under the Teletrial model.

Compliance with the National SOPs and principles assures the public that:

  • the rights, safety and wellbeing of participants to clinical trials are protected
  • the data generated from the clinical trials are secure, robust and credible.
