The Australian Government supports residents in residential aged care homes by paying subsidies and supplements to registered providers. These are paid on behalf of each person approved for a government-subsidised permanent and short-term (respite) aged care place.

Services Australia is responsible for paying subsidies and supplements to providers on behalf of permanent care and respite care residents. You must submit a monthly online claim. - Funding for permanent residential aged care residents
The Australian Government pays a daily basic subsidy to providers on behalf of each permanent care resident to meet the cost of delivering care. This subsidy is provided under the Australian National Aged Care Classification (AN-ACC) funding model. - Specialised status funding for residential aged care
Under AN-ACC, providers may apply for specialised status funding for residential care homes who provide care to certain groups. If found eligible, you receive the specialised Base Care Tariff on behalf of residents. - Palliative care funding for residential aged care
Providers may apply for AN-ACC class 1 funding for eligible older people who enter permanent residential aged care to access planned palliative care. - Short-term funding for residential aged care
The Australian Government pays a subsidy and supplements to providers on behalf of older people accessing residential respite care. - Supplements for residential aged care
Supplements help with the extra cost of meeting eligible residents’ specific care needs, everyday living services and other costs. - Subsidy reductions for residential aged care
The subsidy amount you receive on behalf of a resident is reduced in certain cases. For example, providers do not receive the total subsidy if a resident pays some types of means tested fees. - Pricing risk assessments for residential aged care
