Review of National Rural Health Commissioner Functions
An independent review of the National Rural Health Commissioner legislative framework is underway. The review is examining the Commission’s functions, governance and reporting requirements as set out in Part VA of the Health Insurance Act 1973. The review is required under the legislation and is expected to be completed by mid-2026.
The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has appointed Mr Mark Booth as the independent expert to lead the review. Mr Booth has over 35 years of experience across the public, private and academic sectors, including extensive experience in rural and primary health policy.
As part of the review, Mr Booth will consult with key stakeholders. There will be an opportunity to provide input through the department’s Consultation Hub.
A link to the Consultation Hub will be provided here when available.
