Independent Review of the National Rural Health Commissioner Legislative Framework

The independent review of the legislative framework underpinning the National Rural Health Commissioner has now been completed.

The review focused on the provisions set out in Part VA of the Health Insurance Act 1973, assessing whether the current framework effectively supports the Commissioner’s responsibilities in improving rural health outcomes. 

Mr Mark Booth led the review. The final report was tabled in Parliament on 22 June 2026.
