Working together to secure the NDIS

We are engaging with people with disability, providers and governments to keep the NDIS sustainable.

In the 2026-27 Budget the Australian Government announced changes to protect the NDIS for people with permanent and significant disability now and into the future.

Your feedback, experience and advice are important to us. We will keep engaging with you as we plan and prepare for the changes needed to guide the reforms.

Have your say

We will let you know when we plan changes to the NDIS. We will also let you know when we are seeking feedback about changes affecting you.

Delivery partners

Advisory groups and committees

New Technical Advisory Group

We are establishing a technical advisory group (TAG) to provide advice to government on access reforms.

The TAG will bring together national expertise to provide independent, evidence-based advice to support the development of a robust and consistent assessment framework for assessing NDIS substantially reduced functional capacity for the purposes of NDIS access.

This will include advice on reforms to NDIS access criteria, including:

  • consideration of permanence
  • assessment of substantially reduced functional capacity
  • access reforms to enable the commencement of Thriving Kids.

TAG’s advice will be informed by consultation with the disability community and sector.

More information about the Technical Advisory Group will be available soon.

Other groups

We also engage and work with various organisations, groups and committees to help inform our work.

How we seek feedback

We will let you know before we make changes that may affect you. We will also let you know when we are seeking feedback.

Your feedback ensures the experience of people with disability remain at the centre of NDIS reforms.

When engaging and communicating with you, we will do so in a way that:

  • gives you time to have your say
  • gives you information in a clear and easy to understand way
  • is inclusive and accessible to all
  • is respectful and trauma informed.

Each engagement will be supported by a short, easy-to-understand paper explaining the proposed changes and how they fit into the broader reforms.

Accessibility

We will communicate in accessible ways, so everyone has the chance to participate, including:

  • Easy Read materials
  • Auslan videos
  • content written in plain English.

What you can expect

When we ask for feedback, we will:

  • let you know in multiple ways including our website, newsletters, social media and through disability networks
  • give you the chance to review information and share feedback
  • explain government decisions clearly
  • explain how the changes may impact you
  • show how the changes fit with broader NDIS reforms.
