NDIS Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is one of Australia’s most important social programs. The NDIS needs to be protected for people with permanent and significant disability and for future generations who will rely on it.

Introduction into parliament 

On 14 May 2026, the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Securing the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill was introduced to Parliament. 

The Bill will make changes to the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 to protect the NDIS. Changes focus on:

  • Clarifying eligibility and the supports the NDIS funds 
  • Addressing fraud within the NDIS 
  • Updating governance and administrative arrangements 

These changes will put the NDIS back on a sustainable footing now and into the future.
