Maternal Health and First 2000 Days/Women’s Health initiative

Maternal Health and First 2000 Days/Women’s Health has been consolidated into the Preventive and Public Health Research initiative under the MRFF 10-year Investment Plan.

About the initiative

We set up the Maternal Health and First 2000 Days/Women’s Health initiative to support the:

  • mother’s health during pregnancy
  • child’s health during their first 2000 days (5 years) of life.

This research activity continues as part of the Preventive and Public Health Research initiative.

Why it is important

The first 2000 days of a child’s life is a unique opportunity to shape a healthier future for them. We will support research into health interventions that can give Australian children the best start in life.

Status

We will now address this initiative’s priorities through Preventive and Public Health Research.
