How vaccines are given to children

Find information about how vaccines are given to children.

To receive a vaccine, your child will generally get a needle in the arm or leg, or drops in the mouth.

This will depend on:

  • your child’s age and size
  • the type of vaccine

To check how your child will receive a specific vaccine, confirm with your doctor or health provider.
