Funding extension for the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)

We will extend existing CHSP service providers from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025. This will help you plan for your future resource, service delivery and staffing needs. Find out what you need to do, who is eligible, and how we will keep you informed.

CHSP extension 2024–25

The May 2023–24 Budget announced that the CHSP will be extended from 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025.

All current CHSP providers who intend to continue delivering entry-level aged care services beyond 30 June 2024 must apply for the CHSP Funding Extension 2024–2025 Grant Opportunity (GO6821).

Eligible CHSP providers will receive an invitation from us to apply for this grant opportunity, which outlines:

  • their proposed 2024–25 funding and outputs based on current 2023–24 grant agreement
  • details on the application process and steps they need to take.

For more information about the CHSP 2024–25 extension:

Eligible CHSP providers will need to lodge their application via email to the CHSP funding extension team before 2pm AEDT on 14 May 2024.

Once completed, all eligible CHSP providers will be issued a variation to their existing grant agreement for 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025.

CHSP extension 2025–27

Following an announcement by Minister Wells on 28 November 2023, the CHSP has been further extended until 30 June 2027. Funding arrangements for the 2025–27 extension will be available in the coming months.

This means CHSP providers will transition to the new Support at Home program no earlier than July 2027. This allows CHSP providers more time to prepare for the reforms and ensure a smooth transition for their clients.

CHSP extension 202324

The CHSP has been extended from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024. Providers have retained grant agreements similar to 2022–23 arrangements, which includes fixed monthly payments in arrears based on 1/12 of the total value of the grant agreement.

The National Unit Price Range has been adjusted in the following ways:

  • a 10% increase to prices at the bottom of the range
  • a 5% increase to prices at the top of the range
  • transport prices increased by 11% at the bottom of the range and 6% at the top of the range in recognition of increased fuel costs.

These increases were automatically applied to the CHSP 2023–24 funding and outputs in recognition of the range of challenges and legitimate localised factors which can impact underlying cost structures and further supports CHSP providers.

For more information, read the CHSP 2023–24 Extension fact sheet.
