Guide to Aged Care Law

Keeping records

This section explains the record-keeping requirements for former providers under the Act.

The Act sets out rules for former providers about keeping records related to aged care services.

[Chapter 7 – Part 3]

Former providers need to keep certain records for 7 years after they stop being registered. This applies to any record that they needed to keep to meet their obligations when they were registered. They can be fined if they don’t do this, unless they transfer the records to another organisation.

Record-keeping obligations for current providers are explained in Chapter 3.
