5 September 2024 - This committee (formerly called the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee, or AHPPC) is the key decision-making committee for health emergencies. Australia's Chief Medical Officer chairs the AHPC, which includes all state and territory Chief Health Officers.

28 November 2025 - Trachoma still occurs in some Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We work with the affected states and territories to identify, treat and prevent this condition. We also report to the World Health Organization’s program to eradicate trachoma across the world.

31 October 2025 - We have delivered several reforms to increase transparency and quality in aged care. This includes the new Aged Care Act, a new Code of Conduct for workers, a Star Ratings system, a mandatory minimum of care minutes per resident per day, a 24/7 nursing requirement and new quality indicators.

The Australian Government helps First Nations students complete their studies and join the health workforce. It also provides financial support for further studies to those already working.
