1 January 2025 - We are making changes to improve aged care in Australia for all, now and in the future. These changes will deliver safety, dignity and respect for older people across aged care.

20 December 2024 - We have delivered several reforms to increase transparency and quality in aged care. This includes the new Aged Care Act, a new Code of Conduct for workers, a Star Ratings system, a mandatory minimum of care minutes per resident per day, a 24/7 nursing requirement and new quality indicators.

9 January 2025 - During COVID-19 many people face challenges that have impacted their mental health. The ‘Keep Your Spirit Strong’ project aims to help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders take important steps to ensure they are prioritising their social and emotional wellbeing.

14 February 2025 - The Residents’ Experience Survey gives aged care residents the chance to tell us about their experience of living in a residential aged care home. The results help determine residential aged care homes’ Star Rating, and helps providers identify how they can improve their services.

20 December 2024 - We have released the aged care reform roadmap to provide an indicative timeline for key reform elements. The dates on the roadmap are subject to change. We will update them regularly to keep the sector informed. This webpage also lists upcoming reforms.
