18 August 2025 - BreastScreen Australia is a joint initiative of the Australian and state and territory governments and aims to reduce illness and death from breast cancer by detecting the disease early. Women over 40 can have a free mammogram every 2 years and we actively invite women aged 50 to 74 to screen.

12 November 2025 - Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, particularly those living in rural and remote areas, are more affected by lung cancer. We worked with the National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO) to make sure the program is culturally safe.

15 March 2026 - The Specialist Training Program supports training positions in regional, rural and remote areas, and in private facilities. This helps to improve the skills and distribution of the specialist workforce by giving participants experience of a broader range of healthcare settings.

17 July 2026 - The SDCP funds specialist dementia care units in residential aged care homes. The units provide specialised care to people with very severe behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia. They aim to reduce or stabilise symptoms so that people can transition into less intensive care settings.

29 July 2026 - The Australian Government reduces the subsidy paid to residential aged care providers in certain cases. Registered providers won’t receive the total subsidy if an aged care resident pays some types of means tested fees.
