Allied health professionals play essential roles in primary care and in the prevention, management and treatment of chronic disease across Australia. They represent more than a quarter of the health workforce.

22 January 2026 - We coordinate the national response to sexually transmissible infections (STI), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and cervical cancer through policies, programs, strategies and information campaigns. We monitor and respond to outbreaks and subsidise medicines.

18 October 2023 - The Life Saving Drugs Program (LSDP) pays for specific essential medicines to treat patients with ultra-rare and life-threatening diseases.
