9 January 2026 - As a registered provider, you must offer care, services and equipment in the Residential Care Service List. These include accommodation, everyday living services, non-clinical and clinical care. If agreed, you can charge separately for higher level services.

12 March 2026 - The Medical Research Commercialisation initiative will provide $450 million over 10 years from 2024–25 to support innovative early-stage health and medical research in Australia. It will help researchers transform ideas into life-saving medicines, devices and treatments to help future patients.

31 October 2025 - The Australian Government reduces the subsidy paid to residential aged care providers in certain cases. Providers won’t receive the total subsidy if an aged care resident pays some types of means tested fees.

12 December 2025 - The National Disability Advocacy Framework 2023–2025 ensures people with disability around Australia can access advocacy services.

27 November 2025 - Read progress on recommendation 10.33 of the Disability Royal Commission.

9 October 2025 - Providers can ask people in government-subsidised residential respite care to pay some fees. These fees are different from what you can charge for permanent (ongoing) residential care.

21 January 2026 - The Health, Disability and Ageing portfolio includes agencies and statutory office holders. These agencies help us deliver the Australian Government’s health policies and programs.

30 June 2022 - The Department of Health is now called the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care. The change of name reflects the importance of aged care to the Australian community and the high priority the Government places on aged care reform.

12 May 2026 - The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is one of Australia’s most important social programs. The NDIS needs to be protected for people with permanent and significant disability and for future generations who will rely on it.
