The preliminary 2025-26 General Treatment Dental (GTD) Annual Report has been released on the Department of Health, Disability and Aged Care website. Statistics are presented for the time-period 2023-24 to 2025-26 for the majority of tables and are available in Excel format.
The Annual Report summarises data collected from private health insurers through the GTD data collection. Tables include statistics related to categories and sub-categories defined in the Australian Schedule of Dental Services and Glossary Thirteenth Edition, Patient Residence (State/Territory) and Patient Age Groups for privately insured general treatment dental services.

The GTD Annual Report is the first comprehensive statistical publication based solely on the GTD data collection, which is supplied monthly to the Department by private health insurers. Annual reports are already produced for two other data collections provided under the Private Health Insurance Act 2007: Hospital Casemix Protocol 1 (HCP1) - covers privately insured admitted patient hospitalisations, and the Private Hospital Data Bureau (PHDB) - covers private sector admitted patient hospitalisations regardless of funding source.
The tables present data for the three most recent financial years (2023-24 to 2025-26). Consistent with the HCP and PHDB Annual Reports, the standard approach is to present five years of data, however comprehensive GTD reporting is only available from 2023-24 onwards. Prior to 2023-24, most health insurers reported data only for the 21 ADA codes that were mandatory under GTD specifications before the 2018-19 update. The 2023-24 financial year was the first year in which all health insurers reported data for all ADA codes claimed. As a result, data for earlier years are not sufficiently complete or comparable for inclusion in these tables.
