Update on the consultation process for the review of the General Miscellaneous category of the Prostheses List

This circular is to provide an update on the consultation process for the review of the General Miscellaneous category of the Prostheses List.

The Department of Health would like to thank those people who have already responded to the consultation process.

In order to provide other interested parties a greater opportunity to provide a response, the closing date for the consultation process has been extended to 3 March 2020. This is reflected in the Department’s Consultation Hub.

Following the close of the consultation period, key findings from the data analysis and the consultation responses will be collated. In mid-March, an additional round of consultation questions will be released through the Consultation Hub via a PHI Circular and will focus on key observations based on data analysis and submissions to the current consultation. Some stakeholders may be contacted directly to discuss more specific observations.

As previously communicated, EY is assisting the department with the review and will provide a report to the department. The findings will be presented to the Prostheses List Advisory Committee at its meeting of 14 May 2020 and will be made publicly available once finalised.

The department will continue to provide updates on the review through PHI Circulars. All queries relating to the review should be emailed to prosthesesreform@health.gov.au.
