Supporting consumer involvement in health and medical research

Consumers have valuable perspectives and experiences that can improve the quality, relevance and impact of health and medical research. This is reflected in the Australian Medical Research and Innovation Strategy and related MRFF priorities.

Our MRFF grant application process supports consumer involvement in all stages of MRFF-funded research by:

• requiring applicants to include a Consumer Involvement Statement in their applications
• supporting the costs of consumer involvement
• assessing research team capacity and capability criterion against teams’ skills, knowledge and experience.

We also provide consumers with practical guidance on how to apply for MRFF funding.
