MRFF reaches maturity at $20 billion

The Australian Government’s landmark Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) has reached maturity at $20 billion. This unprecedented investment will provide ongoing sustainable funding for ground breaking health and medical research.

The Government established the MRFF as an ongoing research fund in the 2014–15 budget. It has now reached its target of $20 billion just 5 years after it was established. 

The capital of the MRFF is invested and the earnings are used to pay for important health and medical research projects. This supports Australia’s best and brightest health and medical researchers over the long term, helping them develop new drugs, treatments, devices and cures.
