Up to 26,000 patients are expected to benefit from access to Medicare funded multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) prostate scans.

These scans improve the ability to both diagnose prostate cancer and monitor patients who have already been diagnosed.

It will help safely and accurately rule out cancer, without the need for painful prostate cancer biopsies and at a quarter of the price.

A factsheet on the new Medicare listing of mpMRI prostate scans is on the Department’s website.
