Medical research to help pharmacists support the safe use of medicines

The Australian Government is investing $11.7 million in medical research for pharmacists to support patients with the safe use of medicines. Funding is from the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).

All Australians will take some form of medication throughout their lives, but using medicines is not without risk. 

The MRFF’s Preventive and Public Health Research initiative is supporting five projects to tackle common prescription drug issues for patients at risk of medication problems.

Funding for these projects was awarded under the 2020 Quality, Safety and Effectiveness of Medicine Use and Medicine Intervention by Pharmacists grant opportunity.
