Major Sporting Events Legacy Framework now available

The Major Sporting Events Legacy Framework outlines why the Commonwealth supports major international sporting events of national significance in Australia. It also provides hosts with planning and funding application guidance for these events in the future.

Sporting organisations can use the Major Sporting Events Legacy Framework a useful tool and guide when asking for government support to host major sporting events in Australia.

It is also used a guide for industry and government when planning to host major sporting events in Australia.

The framework’s main aims are to attract events which bring long lasting benefits to all Australians. These aims include:

  • promoting gender equality and a more inclusive society
  • building a healthy and connected community
  • showcasing Australia to the world
  • strengthening our future
  • achieving sporting success.
