We are increasing the Home Care Package subsidy on 1 January 2025 by 0.93% to pass on the Fair Work Commission Stage 3 decision to increase award wages for eligible workers.
From 1 October 2025, the subsidy will increase again by 0.44%.
This increase to the value of Home Care Packages will be sufficient to cover increased wages and ensure care recipients continue to receive the same care and services.
If providers need to adjust their pricing models to reasonably increase charges for care and services, they must seek agreement from their care recipients.
In their conversation, providers should:
- provide a copy of the department’s letter to care recipients, in case they have not yet received it in their mail
- explain how much prices are increasing for care and services delivered by workers receiving a wage increase
- gain consent and update Home Care Agreements.
