We are consulting to develop realistic and practical quality indicators for in-home aged care. Consultation is now open, and we want to hear your views.

Quality indicators measure and monitor critical areas of care that affect the health and wellbeing of older people. The first stage of consultation is to decide on suitable quality indicators for in-home aged care.

Developing new quality indicators for in-home aged care will also include:

  • an evidence-based literature review
  • national stakeholder, provider and
    public consultations
  • expert consultations.

Anyone can contribute, including:

  • aged care providers and staff
  • older people, their families, representatives and carers
  • sector peaks, associations and unions
  • researchers and experts
  • people interested in Australia’s aged care system.

Quality indicators improve the quality of services provided to older people.

The new quality indicators will not start before 1 July 2026. They will only apply to providers under the new Support at Home program.
