Female Football Week kicks off across Australia from 19–28 May 2023. This annual celebration began in 2014 to elevate women and girls and their contribution to football (soccer) at every level of the game.
The theme for 2023, #LoveOurGame, encourages participants to celebrate the positive effects and embrace their love for the game. It honours the inclusivity and diversity of the sport and harnesses the power of football.
Events
Local football communities will host events to
- encourage participation
- network with industry professionals
- empower the future of women’s football.
Events include:
- female football festivals
- come-and-try days
- social and networking events
- gala days.
Webinars
Industry experts will host a national webinar series to inspire women and girls involved in the game:
- 23 May 2023 – Women in coaching
- 24 May 2023 – Women in refereeing
- 28 May 2023 – Celebrating women in football.
Awards
More than 400 community advocate nominees will be recognised through the Female Football Week Awards. These will be presented by the end of the month, across 5 categories:
- players
- coaches
- referees
- volunteers
- allies.
Female Football Week is a great initiative to get women and girls excited to show their support for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.
