Breastfeeding friendly workplace re-accreditation

The Department of Health was recently reaccredited as a breastfeeding friendly workplace (BFW). We are proud to support our staff by providing conditions and facilities for breastfeeding.

Audience:
General public

Health recognises that support from colleagues is crucial for a breastfeeding friendly workplace.

Here are some of the ways Health supports our employees who are breastfeeding or who have caring responsibilities:

  • We recognise the need to combine work and breastfeeding comfortably and practically – to promote the ongoing benefits to the baby, employee and workplace. This includes providing private rooms for breastfeeding or expressing and lactation breaks.
  • We recognise the importance of maintaining breastfeeding – Health works to provide a family-friendly environment that supports employees to balance breastfeeding and work.
  • Health is committed to offering flexible work arrangements that meet employee needs and operational requirements.
