Paris 2024 was the first time France hosted the summer Paralympic Games. There were many record-breaking and show stopping sporting moments as our Australian athletes showcased their talent to the world across 11 days of action.
Our athletes competed in 17 of the 22 sports with passion and pride. Team Australia highlights during these Games included:
- Alexa Leary winning two gold medals. She stormed home to help Australia win gold in the 4x100m mixed medley relay. Alexa then broke her own world record in the S9 women’s 100m Freestyle Final.
- James Turner also winning two gold medals. He broke his own world record in the 400m T36 and then went on to win the 100m T36. James has now won gold in three back-to-back Paralympics.
- Lauren Parker became Australia's first dual-sport Paralympic gold medallist at the same Games in 48 years. She won gold in both the women’s Para triathlon and H1-4 women’s road race. Lauren also claimed silver in the women's H1-3 individual time trial.

- Nikki Ayers and Jed Altschwager became the first Australian Para-rowers to win gold and the first athletes ever to win the new PR3 mixed doubles.
- The Australian Steelers ended their eight-year wait for a Paralympic medal by winning bronze in wheelchair rugby.
