This advice is only applicable where a state is permitting community sport due to low levels of the virus. It must be read within the context of the local epidemiology (local virus situation) and can only be implemented when it is safe to do so and restrictions have been eased.

In Step 3 of the 3-Step Framework for a COVID Safe Australia, all states and territories can conduct community sport activities. Activities must follow level C standards of the AIS Framework for rebooting sport.  Each state and territory will decide when community sport can start, based on its COVID-19 situation. This means that community sport can start training or competition in most places in Australia. Where practical, participants must maintain physical distance and practise good hygiene. This will help to minimise the risk of virus transmission and sport-related COVID-19 outbreaks.

The current level of COVID-19 cases in the community is low in most parts of Australia. People  at higher risk of becoming severely ill from COVID-19 can return to work and other settings with appropriate precautions in place. Community sport organisations with concerns about the safety of their workforce, or volunteers, should refer to the AHPPC statement on managing health risk.

Spectators and indoor venues must follow the state and territory density and capacity restrictions. Places that serve food and drinks, including alcohol must follow the state and territory restrictions for restaurants, cafes and bars.
