Highlights include:

  • Establishing the National Rural Health Commissioner’s Consumer Advisory Group
  • The Ngayuban Gadan Consensus Statement and the National Rural and Remote Nursing Generalist Framework are being utilised in policy development and to support establishment of rural and remote multidisciplinary health teams.
  • Special supplement published in the Medical Journal of Australia, ‘Building a rural and remote health workforce with place-based education’
  • Working towards progressing the second edition of the National Consensus Framework for Rural Maternity Services
  • Co-hosted:
    • the National Rural Maternity Forum with the Australian College of Midwives and the Rural Doctors Association of Australia
    • the National Rural Surgeons’ Training and Retention Workshop with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons to improve access to surgical care in rural communities
    • a webinar with an award-winning First Nations Alaskan health service.
