$5.9 million for research into stem cell treatments for incurable diseases

The Australian Government is funding 8 medical research projects to find new and innovative stem cell treatments for incurable diseases including leukaemia, Parkinson’s disease and epilepsy.

Funding for this groundbreaking research comes from the Stem Cell Therapies Mission, which is part of the Medical Research Future Fund

Stem cells have the potential to treat many types of incurable diseases, bringing hope for new treatments and a cure where previously there was none. Research is due to begin next month and run for 2 years.
