2023 AGPT program open for applications

Becoming a general practitioner is a rewarding career choice that provides vital healthcare support to local communities. Applications to join the Australian General Practitioner Training (AGPT) program in 2023 opened on 21 March 2022.

1,500 Australian Government-funded places are available for medical registrars who want to train as general practitioners under the AGPT.

Registrars can chose to attain GP fellowship with the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) through the:

  • general pathway (training in inner and outer metropolitan areas with the RACGP)
  • rural pathway (training in locations in regional, rural and remote Australia with either ACRRM or RACGP).

Applications for entry into the 2023 program:

  • open 10 am (AEDT) Monday 21 March 2022
  • close 11:59 pm (AEST) Tuesday 19 April 2022.
