$15 million to support Mitochondrial disease research

The Australian Government will invest up to $15 million to determine the safety, efficacy and feasibility of implementing mitochondrial donation reproductive technology following the passing of Maeve’s Law.

The MRFF’s 2022 Mitochondrial Donation Pilot Program grant opportunity is now open. Applications close 14 September 2022.

The grant opportunity will support a pilot program that includes a clinical trial that aims to better understand mitochondrial donation reproductive technology.

Funding is from the MRFF’s Emerging Priorities and Consumer-Driven Research initiative.
