The Australian Government is delivering more funding to aged care providers in rural and remote areas to ensure older Australians can access the in-home care services they need, wherever they live.
Today, more than 380,000 thousand older Australians have access to an ongoing Support at Home place, more than ever before. To help support this record demand for aged care services the Government is opening applications for a third round of the Support at Home Thin Markets Grants.
These grants unlock over $300 million for eligible Support at Home providers to help them continue to deliver vital services to our loved ones.
In addition to supporting rural and remote providers, the grants will also support providers delivering specialised aged care services and services to older Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Providers may be eligible to apply if they are delivering:
- rural and remote services in Modified Monash areas 3 to 7
- specialised services in any region, or
- culturally responsive services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
After a decade of neglect under the Liberals, this thin markets grant round is yet another milestone in the Albanese Labor Government’s work to rebuild and reform the aged care sector as well as enhancing the financial viability of providers.
The Albanese Government will continue to act on what we hear from older Australians and the people who care for them. That's why alongside these grants, Labor has delivered tens of thousands more home care places to older Australians who want to age with dignity at home.
Applications for the third round of Support at Home Thin Markets grants will open today.
More information about how to apply is available on the GrantConnect website.
